Gayo Highland is the largest Arabica plantation in Southeast Asia, especially for specialty coffee.

Gayo coffee is considered as one of the most premium coffee beans in the world because of the fine aroma and not-so-bitter taste. The strong characteristics of Gayo beans make it popular and often added to house blends to increase the overall aroma and body.

The soil, landscape and climate of the plantation area contribute to its rich characteristics; strong body and complex flavors. Gayo coffee belongs to the premium category, equally compared to other world-renowned coffee beans.

Gayo coffee has obtained the Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) status from the European Union (EU). This special status means that the product will benefit from the same protection and market added-value as EU protected products.

Blanco Coffee Indonesia is managing around 400 hectares of coffee plantation, and is partnering with dozens of small-holder farmers.

Located in Pantan Musara Village, Aceh Tengah, it takes approximately 1.5 hours to get to our plantation from Rembele Airport. Lush green hills swarmed with red hanging coffee cherries greet anyone who passes by. As you get further away from the city center to the higher grounds, you’ll feel the fresh breeze of good quality air as you reach 1600 masl on the way to our plantation. Such luxury is great for coffee processing center.

We take good care of many superior varieties such as Bourbon, Cattura, and a quite phenomenal old variety called Abyssinia. Did you know that Abyssinia has a remarkable aroma and unique flavor characteristics? Such a good example of ‘old but gold’, it is.

To make sure you have a pleasant experience at our plantation, we provide facilities such as airport transfer, guest house, and private trips as per request.

Blanco always believe that in order to produce best quality coffee, human resources is the number one issue that needs attentive consideration.

By cooperating well with our small-holder farmers, Blanco is able to always give maximum effort in knowledge sharing regarding plantation activity.

From general maintenance issues to preventive measures on diseases like CBD, CLD, etc., and climate change, all in the effort of producing consistent product.

Not only focusing on farmers’ learning, we also focus on community building. Most of our farmers and Pantan Musara villagers are trained to be able to communicate with buyers, both local and international. Our coffee trip has become the highly-anticipated event as everyone can connect and share their stories freely.

Having run the business for 7 years, our priority is to always be transparent about our coffee’s traceability.

Likewise, there are no blinders when it comes to price. We realize that there are complaints regarding an inconsistent green bean quality from buyers out there, hence we always provide transparent pricing.

Our buyers are always welcome to visit and explore our plantation. Get a closer look, have a chat with the farmers, review the beans quality first-hand before we ship them out.

The way we see it, direct trading is not just about fairness. By being transparent, we hope that it will provide sustainability in the long run.
